Spatial Editing

Continuity Editing: time and events stay continuous, a clear environment is estblished

Cross Cutting: used to create importance and emphasis in two different scenes occurring simultaneously.

Kuleshov Effect: this theory is based on the idea of an audience making a connection between two objects. eg, if the audience is shown an expressionless face, and we eyeline match to a bowl of soup the audience assumes the face wants the bowl of soup. (see video)
